Installation Requirements
Pin Layout
Refer to Pin Layout Diagram
- Standard pin spacing: 279mm on center
- Additional pins required within 50.8mm of compression joints
- Additional pins within 50.8mm of material joints or termination points
Steel Bulkheads and Decks
- Pin Specifications
- Use mild steel 3mm CD insulation pins, aluminum base when fixing to aluminum surface
- Pin length = total insulation thickness plus 25mm
- Pins are welded using standard capacitor discharge welding system or using a polyurethane fire resistant sealant.
- Pin Layout
- Maximum 279mm on center spacing
- Additional pins within 50.8mm of material joints or termination points
- Refer to pin layout diagram for exact positioning
- Installation Process
- Impale blanket over insulation pins
- Cut to required length and width using straightedge and sharp knife
- Compress all butt joints minimum 30mm during installation
- For wide blankets (610mm), compress to 580mm
- Bend over excess pin length to eliminate hazards
Aluminium Bulkheads and Decks
- Pin System
- Similar pin and washer system as steel
- Mild steel pin supplied with aluminum base
- Base is welded to aluminum surface
Multiple Layer Systems
- Joint Requirements
- Offset each layer joint by approximately 305mm
- Maintains thermal integrity of insulation system
- Install corresponding round or square speed clip/washer over pins
- Secure blanket in place
Quality Control
- Joint Compression
- Verify minimum 30mm compression at all butt joints
- Check offset joints in multiple layer systems
- Ensure proper pin spacing according to layout diagram
- Pin Installation
- Verify correct pin length for insulation thickness
- Check secure welding of all pins
- Confirm proper bending of excess pin length
